The Mighty Atlatl
Saratoga, 40 miles away from Rawlins, is where the modern use of the atlatl originated back in 1980. Rod Laird, pictured below, was officially recognized as the Grandfather of the Atlatl by the World Atlatl Association.
I will be telling his story this weekend.
Also included are photos from the Wyoming Atlatl & Social Club throw in Cheyenne with Russell Richard and his gang.

Cow Plop
The Cow Plop is probably one of the bigger events in Rawlins. Basically people make bets on which square the cow is going to poop on and win money. First prize was $200.

South Dakota Road Trip
Took a short road trip to South Dakota over break.
Busker in Old Market, Omaha, NE.
Pigeons hover around the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD, also known as "The World's Largest Bird Feeder."
Badlands National Park.
In the late 1800s, there was a sizable Chinese population in the Black Hills. Most of them either went further west or back to China. The Wong clan still visits Deadwood every year. Would be interesting to track them down and do a story.
